Events under palm trees
The Palm Houses in Burggarten and in Schoenbrunn, with their mediteranean flair in the middle of Vienna, offer the perfect venue for receptions, presentations, seminars, fashion shows, as well as private parties and celebrations.
As events and catering partner of the Austrian Federal Gardens, the Event Company Opitz & Hasil offers two sections in the Burggarten Palm House; the large Palm House in Schoenbrunn and the Wuestenhaus, a desert experience, also located in Schoenbrunn. The level and prestige of these locations gives events in the Palm Houses that little special something. Guests can also make the most out of the outdoor space if required, for example for standing receptions.
Burggarten Palm House
The greenhouse in Vienna's Burggarten is a treasure from the time of the Habsburg dynasty with architectural elements from late Historicism, Baroque and Art Nouveau. Ludwig von Remy, Imperial and Royal Councillor and Head of the Court Construction Directorate, built a Classicist greenhouse in the Burggarten between 1823 and 1826. At the turn of the century this was replaced by the new greenhouse with its well-known Art Nouveau ornaments designed by Court Architect Friedrich Ohmann. A butterfly house and a coffee house are located in the first two sections. The third and fourth sections, with an area of approximately 300m2 and a capacity of up to 250 people, and an area of 215m2 and a capacity of up to 200 people respectively can be rented from mid-May to mid-September.
Schoenbrunn Palm House
The Palm House is located in the area of the former Dutch Garden and was constructed in the years 1881/82 according to the plans of Franz Xaver Segenschmid. Modern technology was used to give the impressive, mandatory iron construction of the late 19th century a form that was fitting to the material. The Schoenbrunn Palm House is the last and largest one of its kind in Continental Europe. The Schoenbrunn Palm House can be rented after visitor hours and can hold up to 120 people.
Wuestenhaus
This location seduces visitors into taking an exciting trip around the world, which is an event in itself. The hot sand of the desert and the unique flora and fauna of the different dry regions of the planet can be experienced up close. Unique desert landscapes from Central America to Madagaskar are authentically recreated on small areas. This joint project of the Austrian Federal Gardens and the Schoenbrunner Zoo brings the desert to life in the middle of the Vienna. The foyer of the Wuestenhaus is available for exclusive events all year round.
