Green Meetings
In January 2011, the Event Company Opitz & Hasil was the first event agency to successfully complete the licensing process for the "Austrian Eco-label for Green Meetings". This entitles us to certify events according to the Green Meeting Guideline.
Presenters can organize their events themselves and then register them with us for certification. Or they can let the Event Company to guide them through the certification process. In both cases, howver, promptly publicizing this measure is important. Presenters and their guests in particular feel better when they know that their event is being conducted in an ecologically sustainable fashion.
The implementation in its entirety is what makes a presentation a Green Meeting. In the scope of the certification process the following points, among others, are anlyzed and optimized as necessary: getting there & getting around, screening of the location, purchasing resources, catering & dining, as well as communication & social aspects.
The Eco-label is an initiative of the Austrian Ministry of the Environment. The corresponding guideline was drafted by the Austrian Consumer Information Association (VKI) and the Austrian Ecology Institute (ÖÖI) in collaboration with representatives of the convention sector, relevant stakeholders, and environmental experts.
